Review of the new 2018-2019 Skoda Karoq

The car was first introduced to the world in May 2017. Skoda Karoq positions itself as a compact SUV of a new type, in fact it is a completely new five-door SUV with full or only front-wheel drive. Manufacturers announced that the car was designed on the popular MQB platform from VW. This platform is quite relevant not only at Skoda, which designs this car and Koduaq on it, but also at VW with their Touran and Tiguan, as well as the Seat with the Ateca SUV.

This car is positioned by the company as a universal SUV, combining excellent running, practicality, but at the same time it is very attractive and original in appearance. In addition to all this, the jeep is equipped with a number of modern systems and functions that guarantee high-quality control and a high level of safety for the driver and his passengers.

Exterior of the new SUV

The car is significantly different from its relative in the Skoda Yetti class, as the new SUV is not original, and its current external data fully complies with the modern requirements of style and fashion. The front of the crossover received an interesting appearance thanks to the characteristic radiator grille with double vertical trims, the modernity of the car is emphasized by the massive dark front bumper, as well as the custom design of the headlights. The optics received a two-story design, the top headlights received a rectangular shape and LED lighting, immediately trapezoidal "foglights" were installed under them.

In profile, original design decisions are emphasized by a roof falling to the stern, convex square-circular wheel arches, roof rails on the car. The line of windows is raised high enough and rises slightly to the rear of the car, side rear-view mirrors received a special aerodynamic design. The external features of the SUV are transmitted using short overhangs of the body and the original dark body kit around the perimeter of the car.

Behind the car, in the first place, it is worth highlighting the original LED lights with a complex structural form resembling a C-shaped view. The optics are located both on the wings of the car and on the trunk door. The very same tailgate tapers slightly to the bottom, the large rear bumper also received a dark color. The dynamic design of the car was decorated with a spoiler located above the glass of the tailgate with an integrated additional brake light.

2018 Karoq Interior

The appearance of the car is characterized by two main parameters: practicality and ergonomics. In the basic configuration, expensive fabrics and soft plastic are used. Expensive SUV versions contain a combination of fabric-leather or full leather trim. The adjustment of all the elements inside the cabin is of the highest quality, most likely even ideal, which is traditional for this company. To create additional coziness and comfort, manufacturers offer the buyer the opportunity to choose the optimal LED backlight, a total of 10 options are offered.

The instrument panel has analog dials of the usual tachometer and speedometer scales, between which there is a small screen of the on-board computer. On the center console is an integrated entertainment complex monitor with a diagonal of 9.2 inches. Immediately below the screen you can see the buttons, keys and switches of the climate system and other useful auto functions. On the sides of the screen are air conditioning deflectors. The steering wheel got the usual multifunctional performance in a three-spoke version.

The front row of seats received many adjustments and settings, the head restraints are qualitatively executed, which will allow you not to feel tired during a long trip. The second row of seats is equipped with a transformation function, which will allow you to choose the optimal position for each of the passengers in the back row. In addition, the rear seats can be dismantled, which will increase the useful volume of the trunk from 520 to 1815 liters. Ergonomic niches, shelves and compartments will allow you to place at your fingertips all the necessary things, which will add comfort while traveling.

• wheelbase - 2638 mm (front-wheel drive), 2630 mm (all-wheel drive);
• ground clearance - 176 mm (front-wheel drive), 189 mm (all-wheel drive);
• trunk volume - 520 (1815) liters.

The basic version received front-wheel drive, full with a multi-plate clutch is an option for an additional fee.

The engines proposed to equip the SUV:

• liter turbocharged gasoline, 115 hp;
• 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline, 150 hp;
• 1.6-liter turbo diesel with 115 horsepower;
• two-liter diesel engines of the usual and turbocharged version with a capacity of 150 and 190 horsepower, respectively.

The transmission involves three options at once, which is not familiar to the company:

• 6-speed manual gearbox;
• 7-band robots of "dry" and "wet" execution.

It is also worth noting that cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, keyless engine start and smart seats will be available only as an option. You will also have to pay extra for adaptive headlights, as well as tire pressure sensors. The remaining technical equipment is standard on the new 2018-2019 Skoda Karoq.

Start of sales and cost

The pre-sale premiere of the SUV is scheduled for September this year, but the start of sales is scheduled for the end of 2017. Starting cost for basic equipment in Europe will be 21 thousand euros.

The car will appear on the territory of the Russian Federation at the beginning of 2018, while the starting price will be 1.25 million rubles. The maximum version with all-wheel drive will cost about 1 million 850 thousand rubles.
